As international travel slowly begins to return for those arriving from green list countries, it is not always easy to understand what our duties are and how to access all the information we need. Here is a short guide to the current guidance available for people arriving from green list countries, who wish to visit Shetland.

Firstly, check that your country is on the green list, remember that information and guidance can change rapidly at the moment. If you decide to travel and are arriving from abroad, there is a national UK process which must be followed, by law. Testing is obligatory for everyone arriving from overseas and tests must be accessed through the route explained below. You cannot use any other type of test (including NHS tests or the lateral flow tests that are available to everyone).

The tests required by law, cannot be obtained in Shetland, they must be purchased prior to travel via the government portal (site link below). Once you have ordered and paid for the test on the government website, it will be sent out to the UK contact address you provide at the time of ordering. You should inform the accommodation provider you are staying with that a test will be delivered to you there.

Before travelling to the UK from a green list country or area, you must:

· complete a passenger locator form

· take a COVID-19 test

· book and pay £88 for a COVID-19 test – you should take this test when it arrives at the UK contact address you have provided, within 2 days of arriving in Scotland.

You will not need to isolate unless:

· the result of the COVID-19 test you’ve taken on day 2 after arriving in Scotland is positive

· NHS Scotland Test and Protect contact you to let you know that you need to isolate as you’ve travelled with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
