Shetland's most northerly island, Unst, is a fascinating place to visit in its own right, but this remote community is also home to the Saxa Vord Distillery, the most northerly distillery in the UK. Founded by four friends who share a passion for producing top quality products in the local community, the distillery produces a range of excellent gins and a Shetland-finished, blended malt whisky. Produced only in Shetland by Shetland's only distillery. Shetland Reel gins are now available throughout the UK and beyond.

The original concept was to make a traditional style gin using many of the botanicals used in the great gins of the past, but to make it their own. Shetland Reel recipes include juniper berries, coriander seeds, orris root, cinnamon and citrus peel, but add a unique Shetland twist with locally-harvested apple mint and bladderwrack seaweed.

Limited Editions, Special Editions and Single Batch Creations are part of the Shetland Reel success, and you can be first to hear about these by signing up to their Reel Club newsletter. A new Up Helly Aa Gin appears every January in celebration of the local fire festival season. It’s always very popular so keep your ear to the ground for launch dates!

You will be able to enjoy Shetland Reel wherever you are based in Shetland, but do go and visit the distillery for guided tastings and distillery tours. Tours and tastings are fun and informative, and of course, you will be able to sample and savour several editions from the range before you decide how many souvenirs you can carry home!
