Shetland’s Original, 4-Star, Noss Boat Tours with Seabirds-and-SealsEventsOtherSport and LeisureTour OperatorsVisitor AttractionLerwick and Bressay

Join the 4-Star Seabirds-and-Seals Noss Boat Tour, aboard their spacious catamaran Seabird, to experience a real 'Gannet’s eye view' – up close and personal with the birdlife above and the sea-life below.

Daily wildlife boat tours at 10am & 2pm from Victoria Pier, Lerwick - both tours take 3 hours minimum, which gives you plenty of opportunity for wildlife watching and time to take in the stunning scenery.

The tour includes the famous Noss National Nature Reserve and takes you right around Bressay. This amazing experience allows you to enjoy Shetland's plethora of seabirds and seals, as well as spectacular views, giving you fantastic opportunities to see and photograph Shetland’s wildlife against the stunning backdrop of the Noss cliffs. You will get unbelievably close to the awe-inspiring sights and sounds of this extraordinary seabird metropolis, which is home to 25,000 northern gannets, as well as thousands of guillemots, puffins, razorbills, black guillemots, gulls, shags and artic skuas. You will come eye-to-eye with beautiful blue-eyed gannets and immerse yourself in the unforgettable clamour of a thousands-strong 'choir' of different bird calls. The Seabirds &Seals team bring along fresh fish to give you a guaranteed opportunity to see gannets diving. If you’re lucky, you might even see porpoises, or the occasional whale, otter or dolphins – keep your fingers crossed and your eyes open. Every trip is unique.

Along the way, Brian and Marie will regale you with history and folk tales, and share their great knowledge of Lerwick's beautiful harbour, the Bressay Lighthouse, the Orkneyman's Cave, the giant's leg, the geology of Bressay, local history and much more. When sea conditions allow the tour takes you right into the Orkneyman's Cave, which is sometimes used as the site for the tour’s underwater camera dive to explore the waters below you to see plankton, starfish, crabs, sea urchins, sea anemones, soft corals, jellyfish and Shetland's kelp forest. Depending on conditions, other dive sites include the wreck of the Girdleness barge, which sank during WWII. Today the wreck is teeming with crabs, starfish, delicate starfish, colourful sun stars, sea anemones, and the occasional curious seal. Weather permitting, you will sail through the Giant's Leg, a magnificent natural archway.

There are on-board activities to keep younger sailors entertained and when they go back ashore every child will take home a sea-life activity pack. After your trip around the cliffs of Noss, there is a stop for refreshments in a sheltered bay – fresh filter coffee, tea, juice, and biscuits.

On our tours you are in good hands as there are always two experienced crew members. They deliver fun, personal, informative, and interesting tours to suit all interests and ages.
