Island trails offers a variety of small group and private bespoke tours to help visitors make the most of their time in Shetland. Join Island Trails to experience Shetland's scenery, history, culture, folklore and wildlife with an experienced local guide.
Island Trails is the tour guiding business of local guide and crofter James Tait. James grew up in a traditional crofting community in the South Mainland of Shetland and is still actively involved with crofting and keeping sheep. In all his tours James brings his local knowledge and enthusiasm for the islands history, culture and wildlife. Stories and legends from folklore are often woven into the tour narrative along with examples of the Shetland dialect.
