Stay in this historic farmstead, on the shores of the beautiful Weisdale voe. It's the ideal position to explore the rest of Shetland.
Ervhouse is a Grade C listed farmhouse situated at the top of Weisdale Voe. It has enjoyed a busy life since it was built as the factor's house for the Kergord Estate in 1856. The west wing, which faces the sea, was added in the 1880s when it became a halfway post house where horses were changed on the road to the westside of Shetland.
The ground floor rooms were used as waiting rooms, where passengers could sit by the fire, rest and take some refreshment. The building also ran as a travellers inn renting the rooms upstairs. Later known as the Huxter Inn, it offered fishing and hunting holidays. The present owners are gradually restoring the house and garden to its former glory. The garden's mature trees are something of a visitor attraction themselves in Shetland's treeless landscape!
Ervhouse offers B&B accommodation in its tastefully furnished rooms, which have been renovated in keeping with the original style of the building whilst giving you all the home comforts you could wish for. There are 2 comfortable en suite rooms, both with views over the sea. There is a large guest lounge with a cosy stove - just the place to relax after a long day sightseeing or work. You can always be sure of a warm and friendly welcome and good food in tranquil surroundings whenever you visit Ervhouse. Dinner is available by arrangement.
